Bale slicer knives for primary tobacco lines
A bale slicer knife cuts tobacco that arrives tightly compressed in bales or cartons into smaller portions, at the start of primary processing and before conditioning. What the part does
The slicer works at the front of the line: it portions the compressed bale so that the material can be conditioned and, further downstream, cut into cut rag by the tobacco cutter. The two duties are not the same, and neither is the knife: a slicer knife opens a dense block, while a cutter drum knife works on conditioned leaf.
Körber describes conventional bale slicing as cutting across the leaf structure with a large knife. That is the defining feature of the part — a long, heavy blade taking a full cut through compacted material, rather than a light edge shearing a thin web. Machine maker Akyurek names a slicer knife as a component of its tobacco slicing equipment, and machine makers such as Comas offer horizontal bale slicers.
Delamination is a different mechanism. Körber offers its Delaminator for firmly compressed bales and describes it as separating portions with rotating scrapers rather than slicing through them. We do not transfer a slicer knife description to a delaminator component: enquiries for delamination equipment parts are quoted from the drawing and the assembly position, like any other part. Send the worn part where a drawing does not exist, and say where it sits in the machine.
Machines and stations
This family covers drawing-defined bale slicer knives, the mating and clamping parts around them, and enquiries for the working parts of delamination equipment. Machine examples include Akyurek tobacco slicers, Comas horizontal slicing equipment and the Körber Delaminator; these are different arrangements and they do not share one blade design.
For manufacture, the machine identifies the application and the approved drawing and its revision identify the part. Where only a worn component exists, we measure it and agree the proposed reconstruction before production, including the working face and attachment features.

How it wears and when to change it
A bale-opening part is worked by a dense, variable material, and how fast it dulls depends on the bale and on the portioning duty the machine is set to. Public sources do not establish one removal point for every slicer or delaminator, so the criterion — portion quality, a limiting dimension, or a planned interval — is agreed with you from the plant's records and the machine instructions.
Planned changes and removals caused by something else are worth separating in your own records before an enquiry, because they say different things about the part.
Materials and hardness
The material for a bale-opening part follows that part's function and drawing. Akyurek's published description names a knife but does not give a material prescription for every slicer or delaminator, and the material options listed for downstream tobacco cutting knives do not specify a bale-opening component either.
We state the agreed material and hardness in the quotation and the order documentation. Where the drawing is incomplete, we prepare a proposal from what the drawing gives and from the worn part, for your approval. Heat treatment, grinding and finishing are carried out in our own plant, and no general blade angle or hardness is substituted for the value your application requires.
Made to your drawing — quality and documents
The approved specification separates the knife or working component from any mating and clamping parts included in the enquiry, and each item's supply scope is stated in writing. For a reconstruction from a sample, the approved geometry becomes the reference for manufacture and for later orders.
Before dispatch, dimensions, hardness and edge condition are checked on a sample from each batch. Material documentation, hardness reports and dimensional inspection records are available on request; their scope is confirmed in the quotation. Trial batch and comparison on one machine
We offer a paid trial batch, with quantity, price, lead time, acceptance criteria and the number of cycles stated in the quotation. It is not a free sample, not a guaranteed result. For bale opening the proposed measure is accepted slices or portions between replacements, together with the processed mass and the bale specification, so that portions of different size are not treated as the same output. Changes to the incoming bales, the portioning programme or the mating parts are recorded as changes of condition, and you receive the comparison in writing under our single-machine comparison protocol.
