Six part families cover most of a shredding plant.
Dimensions, steel grade and hardness are set per order. Where feed material is abrasive, we discuss the trade-off between hardness and toughness before quoting.

Granulator Knives & Shredder Blades — Industrial Knives for Recycling
Steellogy manufactures heavy-duty industrial knives for the recycling industry — granulator knives, shredder blades, pelletizer knives and counter knives — for plastics, rubber, wood waste, e-waste and mixed streams. Made in our own plant in Poland from certified tool steels, with dimensional and hardness inspection per batch.
Granulator Knives
Granulator knives are the cutting core of size reduction equipment: rotor knives cut against fixed stator (bed) knives in a shearing action, sizing material through a screen. The rotor-to-stator gap and edge condition govern regrind quality — worn knives produce oversized particles, more fines, and higher energy use.
Steellogy produces granulator knives from D2 / 1.2379 as the standard grade. For hardness we follow the steel producer's own application guidance — Uddeholm's Sverker 21 datasheet lists 56–60 HRC for granulator knives — with the delivered hardness agreed per order and stated on the confirmation. Our granulator blades are compatible with machines from manufacturers including Zerma (GSH-series), Herbold, Cumberland, Rapid and Hellweg, supplied as rotor and stator knives to the drawing.
Shredder Blades
Industrial shredder blades take impact and abrasion from heterogeneous waste streams. Whether shredding plastics, tires, wood waste or electronic waste, shredder knives face unpredictable loads from mixed materials, contaminants and tramp metal — so toughness comes before peak hardness. Steellogy shredder blades are manufactured from cold-work tool steels, with D2-class as the base and grades such as DC53 and A8 commonly used for tougher duty; heat treatment is done in-house.
Our shredder blades are compatible with machines from Vecoplan, Lindner, UNTHA, WEIMA, SSI Shredding Systems and other shredder manufacturers, in single-shaft, dual-shaft and four-shaft configurations.
Pelletizer Knives
Pelletizer knives cut extruded plastic strands into uniform pellets in the final stage of plastics recycling. Variations in blade geometry show up directly as irregular pellet shapes and processing problems downstream, so the knives are ground to drawing-controlled tolerances. For underwater and water-ring systems, the grade is selected for corrosion resistance and confirmed on the quotation.
Steel Grades for Recycling Knives
Steel grade follows the feedstock. For standard plastics granulating, D2 / 1.2379 with hardness per the producer application guidance above. For glass-filled or mineral-filled plastics, we quote PM (powder-metallurgy) cold-work steels or tungsten carbide where the application justifies it — always as a named grade with its producer datasheet, since PM designations are grade-specific and not interchangeable. Shredder duty favours tougher cold-work grades such as DC53 and A8-class that resist impact and tramp-metal contamination. For a broader overview of knife selection criteria across applications, see our complete paper cutting knife guide — the same metallurgical principles apply across sectors. Send the material stream and throughput with the enquiry and the grade is confirmed on the quotation.
